But before you jump in and buy the first (or cheapest) one you see, it can be worth learning a bit more about what to look for in a new boiler. Our plumbers have put together five things you should consider before ordering your new boiler.

One thing you might read about online is the gas boiler ban. This might concern you if you are thinking about buying a new boiler. However, our plumbers are here to assure you that the gas boiler ban doesn’t come into effect until 2025, and it will only apply to new build homes. So, there is no reason not to buy a gas boiler if you are looking for one.

2.Choosing A Brand

When you are choosing a new boiler, one of the top things our plumbers recommend is choosing a good brand. One way of identifying a trustworthy brand is by looking for awards they have won. For example, Worcester Bosch has won the Which? Best buy boiler for the last 10 years. This is a great sign that they are a company well-known for producing reliable boilers! 

One good tell of a good brand is how long of a guarantee they offer. If a brand offers a 10-year guarantee, it means they don’t expect it to break down in that period of time.

3.Getting A Range Of Opinions

Every plumber has an opinion when it comes to boilers. Many plumbers will disagree about which boiler or which brand is best. One plumber will swear by Baxi whilst another will prefer Glow Worm. Often this is because of how easy each boiler is to fit, it’s not always just about the boiler itself! Make sure you get a range of opinions, and try to find unbiased ones too, before you go ahead and buy your new boiler.
